Association of Chest Physicians (West Bengal) has completed its first twenty five years and wishes to bolster its academic presence with commitment to research.
Scientific writing and getting published is much more than being merely an admission card for postgraduate examinations or for securing departmental promotions. Its greater importance lies in generating new knowledge and providing insight to our daily chores.
The number of postgraduate seats and students has increased recently making it difficult to identify different areas of research or thesis topics for individual students. In order to help students and their guides select new topics, the ACP Research Subcommittee, in a meeting held on 15.12.2023 felt that a compilation of submitted dissertations over the past five years for both MD and DNB curriculum would be extremely helpful if made available in the ACP website.
The subcommittee also felt that a structured protocol needs to be followed by all students of all teaching institutions (Government and Private sector included) with a mandatory departmental presentation to be held prior to submitting the synopsis. The protocol should ideally include an introduction, a review of the existing literature, what the current research study aims to add, publication potential of the research work and feasibility of completing the study in the allotted period of time.
ACP wishes to create a research network where respective HODs may avail the website and / or may meet on or offline.
